Tomorrow we move Josh up to school (Go Blue!) and then on Sunday (probably) I move to Chicago. Found a great apartment on Broadway in Lakeview that I'm super excited about. A decent sized one bedroom. But it's definitely going to be tough leaving... Packing has been really hard, trying not to leave anything behind, and trying not to get too emotional about leaving. This is it, leaving Michigan, leaving friends and family (although family pretty much left me, but still). Excited about what comes next, but not really ready for it...
I have been looking at apartment listings
all day. As exciting as this is, it's also extremely overwhelming... I have no idea what I'm doing. Jake's going to Chicago with me for the day on Sunday to look at places (what a great brother, right?), and then I'll move at some point this week. Chicago here I come, right? Oy...
Shabbat Shalom!
Well, so it's finally official (or at least, mostly official). I'm going to be moving to Chicago, to work for
Young Judaea. I can't tell you what a relief it is, to finally know what's going on... Now I can actually start looking for a place to live, packing up, and all that fun stuff. Speaking of which, if anyone has any leads on apartments, or ideas on where I should start looking, let me know. I'm possibly starting as early as Monday (pending my background check being done on time) which is kinda crazy, right?
So I'm going to go to Ann Arbor to finish moving out of the Elm house, and then I need to start packing up to move.
Man...
Those of you who live in Chicago, I'll see you soon!
Jenny & Brian's wedding was so beautiful... I really can't believe they're married. And
pictures are already up, so you can check them out. I also posted pictures from the past several months, including camp & Rachel & Avi's wedding... I'm gonna go watch
The 4400 and go to bed, so enjoy the pics!
Campers left on Thursday, and now camp is pretty quiet. Mom was telling me about how when she was a kid, after the campers would leave her & Uncle Tommy would run around to the different cabins and find "treasures" people had left behind. Like a safety pin. Or a penny!! My initial reaction?
Man, those staff did a way better job of cleaning the cabin than ours! But my next thought was to picture Mom & Unc as kids running around camp. How crazy is it, that I've decided (in a way) to follow in Grandma & Dada's footsteps? I really wish I could have talked with them about it... I never heard them talk about Camp Lynnwood, I only heard about it from Mom (or saw movies of it).
Tonight starts
Tisha B'Av. I ate plenty for dinner, drank tons, and yet I'm already hungry/thirsty, just thinking about tomorrow. The CCFA campers don't come until afternoon, so it shouldn't be
too long a day, but still.
Anyways, that's all for now! Have a safe & meaningful fast, to those of you that are fasting!
I've been horrible about writing this summer--sorry about that. So campers leave on Thursday, I'm here for another week after that working a rental group, then back to Michigan for Jenny & Brian's wedding. After that, who knows... Chicago, maybe? Hopefully I'll know soon, and then I'll let y'all know.
("Y'all"... Man, see what happens when I have a sister at school in Texas and a camper from Texas?)This session has been pretty good, but tough work. I only have 5 campers, you'd think it would be easy, but with sixteen-year-olds... Anyways, I'm getting a little burnt out, but I'll be fine. Just a couple more days, right? Going to be strange going back "home" (ie Michigan) when Mom & Dad no longer live there & technically I don't really either. A strange feeling, not knowing what's going on in my life...
Tomorrow's Maccabiah, so of course there's tons of work to do. Plus people are visiting, including Sherril, one of my staff from last summer :) . So that's all for now. I'll write when I get a chance...
