randomness...: February 2006

My opinions, updates on my life, all sorts of "randomness"...

After work today I headed up to Alpine Valley to go riding. It's this wimpy little "mountain," and in reality not at all worth a two-hour drive, but it was fun. Three & a half hours of solid riding, and now my body is totally wrecked. But it's that good "damn, I just pushed myself way too hard" feeling. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you clearly don't snowboard. :) And now it's time for bed before I pass out...

Watching the Olympics has made me want to go snowboarding sooo badly, it's crazy. Especially the Border Cross competition. WOW, that is the coolest thing I've ever seen. Looks like so much fun. And watching Seth Wescott ride is amazing--I've decided he's officially the coolest person ever. He seems to ride so effortlessly, and just has no fear. Footage of him riding in Alaska--fabulous. Anyways, I'll stop gushing, but I really am super impressed with him. One of those people I'd love to meet someday.

So Jamie & Josh seem to be enjoying their travels. Jamie's TravelPod is great. I wish I knew when is the next time I can travel. Although I'm totally loving my new job, so I wouldn't really want to leave that, there's so much of the world I've never seen, that I would love to. For now I'd settle for finding a weekend to go out west to Vail or something. Mmmm...snow...

Snuggled up under my gorgeous brand new quilt that Mom made me, watching tv with a pint of Ben & Jerry's Magic Brownies. Valentine's Day is delicious. :)

OAR w/Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers

Last night I drove to Champaign to go see OAR in concert. For those of you who don't know the area, that's about a two hour drive. Not bad, but slightly crazy just for a concert. OAR usually puts on a great show, however last night their lead singer Marc was sick, which made the show a little under par. But even under par their still fabulous, amazing, wonderful etc. :) Sorry I don't have a better pic, but seeing as I was sitting way way back (as back as you can get, actually) and my Casio doesn't do a great job with indoor shots, this was the best I could get.

When I finally got home, my front gate (which is never amazing about allowing me to unlock it) decided that it really didn't want me to go home. So it wouldn't let me in. I tried in the freezing cold for over 5 minutes, bent my key in the process, and forced with the choice of just giving up and just spending the night in Jewel (24 hour grocery store across the street from my building) or climbing the fence, I chose the fence. Now this isn't really a climbable fence, so really it basically meant scaling the brick wall and slightly using the fence for balance slash trying to avoid being stabbed by the spikes on top of the fence. And keep in mind this is all taking place in the cold at 1 am after driving for 2 hours. Man... But it was an adventure, right?

Started work at Chi today. So excited about this job... While I still don't know all the details of what the day-to-day stuff will look like, the opportunities seem amazing.

And it's finally snowing :)
